"Wife has already come to you?" - They specify every time in the clinic. In an American oncological society, in the hotel of which they gave me a free room in Manhattan, the keys were prepared in advance for her. “I arrived,” I answer and smile, and the clinic’s nurse sincerely rejoices and congratulates me as if I had won a million. I do not explain to them that my wife arrived for a week-because no one will go from work longer and because at home a mortgage that one of us must pay. If you say, they will be worried about me again, although I am not at all as bad as a week ago - before the administration of the medicine. "How are your pains?" - This is already asks the chief doctor. "I do not need anesthetic now!" And he sincerely rejoices. And then he asks: "And your wife, because she has already arrived?"
In Russia, I somehow lay in the ward for two people, but four lived in it. One patient lived with his wife because he could not get out of bed. At all. His wife came to him from Ryazan and took care of him, prepared him food, which was needed to restore after chemotherapy. The food that is given in the hospital usually consists of cabbage in water, stewed cabbage and compote with the taste of cabbage ... On such food after chemistry, you can only die quietly.
So this woman threw the job and came to take care of an unsuitable husband. She slept on chairs - the cot were not laid according to the rules. She cooked in some kind of electric pressure cooker. On the next day, the manager shouted at her for this: “There are fire rules here! You should not be here at all, but we tolerate you! " “But he needs meat to survive,” a woman retorted the voice of a desperate person. - How else can I cook meat here? "
"Go outside, outside the hospital - and cook what you want!" The manager shouted in response to her. She only pursed her lips. She answered nothing. Otherwise, she would have been forbidden to sleep on chairs near her husband. “Understand that they will put him if the fire inspectorate sees it,” the nurses then explained.
And we all understood: one of the best doctors of the country, not afraid to fight and win cancer, is powerless and afraid of the fire inspection. There are things worse in Russia.
