St. Petersburg State University students spoke out against theology

February 25, 2013 Student Council of St. Petersburg State University (St. Petersburg State University) appealed to the rector with a protest against the introduction of the faculty into the structure of the university theology.

« Saint Petersburg University from its very foundation was separated from any religious structures, and we believe that the introduction of university faculty of theology will be a violation of the age-old traditions of our education. Even if such a structural unit is non-denominational, then its very name will refer to a certain ideological system ,” they said.

Recall that one of the initiators of the emergence of the theological faculty at the university was the rector of the Protestant seminary.
