March 1, 2013 Oktyabrsky District Court of Arkhangelsk delivered a sentence under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity) against the director of the Pomor Institute indigenous and small peoples of the Northern Arctic Federal University, President of the Association of Pomors of the Arkhangelsk region Ivan Moseev. Moseev was found guilty and sentenced to a fine of 100 thousand rubles. The verdict in did not enter into force.
The court found it proven that Moseev left on the site news agency "Echo of the North" comment under the nickname "Pomors", insulting ethnic Russians.
Recall that Moseev considers this criminal case fabricated and pleads not guilty.
We also recall that, from our point of view, the statement left on the site "Echo of the North", which served as a reason for initiation of a criminal case, can be attributed to hate speech, but it is in no way measure does not give grounds for criminal prosecution.
