April 15 2013, it became known that the Orthodox believers of Tomsk had collected 250 signatures demanding the immediate resignation of Commissioner for Human Rights Nelly Krechetova. Among the claims that Orthodox citizens present to the Ombudsman are there are two main ones - "active defense of various destructive sects" and "anti-Orthodox position".
Recall that in October 2011 Nelli Krechetova called on the prosecutor's office Tomsk to withdraw the claim for the recognition of the extremist book "Bhagavad-Gita as it is is” and stop the trial, after which the head of the missionary department of the Tomsk diocese Maxim Stepanenko began to demand the resignation of the Ombudsman.
