On April 30, 2013, it became known that the prosecutor's office of Nakhodka (Primorsky Territory) initiated an administrative offense case against the Nakhodka city Muslim religious organization "Islam" under Art. 20.29 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (dissemination of extremist materials).
By a court decision, the activity of the Islam organization was suspended for 60 days. Literature confiscated.
The resolution has not entered into force.
The reason for the persecution was the books found in the city mosque, included in the Federal List of Extremist Materials.
The suspension of the activities of a religious organization as an administrative punishment for "extremist activity" is encountered for the first time. In addition, we do not know exactly which books were confiscated, but it is doubtful that literature of truly extremist content was kept in the public domain in a legally operating mosque. Sources
