“Lampshades from the ancestors of liberals” could not be hidden

An article by Komsomolskaya Pravda journalist Ulyana Skoybeda with a subtitle about lampshades from the ancestors of liberals has grown into a full-scale scandal. Roskomnadzor issued a written warning to Komsomolskaya Pravda. According to the department, the article “contains statements that violate the requirements of the Federal Law “On the Mass Media” and the Federal Law “On Combating Extremist Activities.”

The message does not say what exactly in the material violates the law of the Russian Federation, but, apparently, we are talking about the subtitle of Skoybeda’s article “Politician Leonid Gozman said: “A beautiful uniform is the only difference between SMERSH and the SS.” On May 13, the day of publication, he read: “Sometimes you regret that the Nazis did not make lampshades out of the ancestors of today’s liberals. There would be fewer problems." On May 15, the subtitle was replaced with a more neutral one: "Liberals are revising history to pull the rug out from under our country," but the original version was preserved in the search engine cache.

Skybeda's column is a response to a post by politician and director of Rusnano humanitarian projects Leonid Gozman, posted on the Ekho Moskvy website. Gozman comments on the release of the television series SMERSH, which tells about counterintelligence operations during the war. “This very word - “SMERSH” - should stand on a par with the words “SS”, “NKVD” and “Gestapo”, causing horror and disgust, and not being included in the name of patriotic militants,” writes Gozman.

“Why do liberals need this - to revise history? Why are they knocking the ground out from under the country’s feet: overestimating and spitting on everything related to the war - the most sacred thing left for the people who survived the collapse of the USSR? Why are the Gozmans leading us from Victory to loserism ? To worthlessness? To inferiority? - writes Skoybeda.

The passage about lampshades (in the Buchenwald concentration camp they were made from the skin of prisoners, mostly those with tattoos) caused a wave of indignation among the “liberals.” Writer Grigory Chkhartishivili wrote on Facebook about Skoybeda’s article: “According to modern European standards, this is a criminal article and a publication ban.” In his opinion, lawsuits from KP cannot be avoided after all : “Here is a case where you simply lose the gift of speech. Firstly, it is completely clear that this author, polemicizing with a man named Leonid Gozman, immediately reacts to a Jewish surname Then she immediately concludes that when she talks about liberals, she means Jews, because we all know who the Nazis destroyed during the war, or, as she puts it, they let them into lampshades. a criminal offense in our country, and especially in the world. I am sure that now some European or world organization dealing with the Holocaust will definitely file a complaint against this newspaper, this same author. This is not a joke at all, any jokes on this topic are in general. blasphemy."

“In a normal country <...> such an article could not have appeared. And if it appeared more than expected, the newspaper would at least be boycotted,” journalist Natalya Gevorkyan wrote in Gazeta.Ru , inviting the editor-in-chief of “KP” to “submit resign."

“Spiritual loyalty to lampshades cancels the transcendence of evil. This means that both the feat of the people and the holiness of Victory are flushed down the toilet: it’s just that one army defeated another, but they could fight the liberals together and make lampshades out of them, how glorious it would be,” writes on Facebook publicist Alexander Timofeevsky.

They demanded from the editor-in-chief of KP Vladimir Sungorkin, if not the dismissal of Skoybeda, then at least an apology. On the evening of May 15, Sungorkin apologized, but accompanied them with an attack on Gozman. “Of course, the phrase is ugly, but she said it in a polemical and journalistic frenzy, therefore, I think that she did not mean all the liberals of Russia. She meant, first of all, her counterpart. It happens that publicists bear <... >. I’ll scold her, I have to think, I’m a TV journalist after all. You know, now Skoybeda and “Komsomolskaya Pravda” will be symbols of something cavernous, not shaking hands, and so on, but what should I do with Gozman? It seems to me that he insulted? this is a huge number of honest, courageous employees of this organization, whose meaning has never been questioned by anyone except these ideological madmen like Gozman,” Sungorkin said on the air of “Business FM”.

The State Duma also took part in the scandal - on May 16, Vice-Speaker of Parliament from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Ivan Melnikov suggested that three Duma committees - on information policy, defense and security - check Gozman’s statement for “equating Red Army troops with SS troops.” According to Melnikov, if this fact is established, the State Duma may prepare some “proposals,” since “Gozman holds an important public position in the Rusnano state corporation.”

“Both Gozman and Skoybeda must be punished! And they can no longer get by with an apology,” State Duma Deputy Chairman Sergei Zheleznyak wrote on Facebook : “In any case, such statements, unacceptable in a civilized society, by either party should lead to liability under the law!” The deputy’s intentions are very serious: “I will send an appeal to Sungorkin so that he says what he is doing about this in relation to the author of the article. If the publication avoids taking action against the journalist who made an unacceptable statement, then I reserve the right to appeal and to the public board for complaints against the press at the Union of Journalists of Russia, and to law enforcement agencies." But before being outraged by Skoybeda’s article, Zheleznyak shared her indignation with Gozman - on May 14, at a plenary meeting of the lower house of parliament, the deputy proposed returning to the discussion of the bill on criminal liability for denial of the Great Victory.

Gozman himself doesn’t want to get involved with “KP” : “I’m not going to sue this creature. I don’t have time to sue this idiot. This is not the first time that Skobeida's articles have become a cause for scandal. On March 6, the same Komsomolskaya Pravda published her material “Why is Israeli citizen Dina Rubina teaching us Russian?” Skoybeda was outraged by the fact that the text for the “Total Dictation” - an all-Russian literacy test - was supposed to be read by “an emigrant with twenty-three years of experience.” The story developed : instead of the text written by Rubina, on April 6 in Ulyanovsk they wrote a dictation about a local artist.
