On May 21, 2013, it became known about a criminal case under Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code (organization and participation in the activities of an extremist organization), initiated in the Perm region against seven followers of Said Nursi, including a citizen of Turkey and three citizens of Azerbaijan.

The suspects were detained. Five were arrested (a citizen of Turkey, three citizens of Azerbaijan and a citizen of the Russian Federation), two Russian citizens were released on their own recognizance. The detainees were searched, during which about 5 thousand books and brochures, three system units, five laptops, five mobile phones, and 61 CD-DVD discs were confiscated.

In addition, it is reported that several followers of Said Nursi were detained and searched in Anapa, Rostov-on-Don and St. Petersburg (the exact number is unknown). During the searches, 1,200 books, 35 CD-DVDs, and brochures in Arabic were confiscated. It is not entirely clear whether investigative actions were carried out as part of the case initiated in the Perm region.

Let us remind you that we do not consider it legitimate to ban the works of Said Nursi, which do not contain any extreme statements, as well as the Nurcular organization, which did not exist in Russia. We oppose the persecution of individual believers who study Nursi's books.
