13 cases were opened against Russian Post for slowness

The Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor's Office opened 13 administrative cases against the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Russian Post.

Cases were opened for exceeding the deadline for sending correspondence under Part 3 of Article 14.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation - “Carrying out business activities in violation of the conditions provided for by a special permit (license).”

After about 500 tons of foreign parcels awaiting customs clearance accumulated at Moscow airports in early April, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation instructed the Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor's Office to conduct an inspection. “The media attributed this situation to the poor quality of work of the customs authorities,” says a press release from the supervisory agency.

The prosecutor's office did not find the customs officers to be at fault for the delays in processing postal items. But she discovered systematic violations in the activities of Russian Post. “For example, as of April 17, 2013, the Sheremetyevo aviation mail forwarding department had unprocessed international mail received on March 20, 30 and 31, 2013,” the statement says. The same violations were found in branches located at Domodedovo and Vnukovo airports. Cases were opened based on these facts.
