In May 2013, from racist and neo-Nazi motivated attacks injured at least 10 people, one of them died. (We are talking about the brutal murder of Vladislav Tornovy on the night of May 9-10, 2013 due to suspicion of non-traditional sexual orientation). Incidents were recorded in St. Petersburg (2 victims), Volgograd region (1 dead, 1 injured), Perm region (3 victims), Komi Republic (1 victim), Ryazan region (1 victim), Stavropol Territory (1 victim). May attack victims were natives of Central Asia (2 victims), Caucasians (1 victim), people of "non-Slavic appearance" (1 victim), members of informal and leftist youth groups (3 victims), representatives of religious groups (2 victims) and LGBT people (1 lost).
In total, according to preliminary data, for the first five months of 2013 in 17 regions of Russia, 4 people died and there were at least 72 people were injured, 2 received serious death threats.
In May, we recorded at least 2 acts vandalism that could be seen as motivated by hatred or neo-Nazi ideologies. Worship cross in Birobidzhan JAO and monument damaged military pilots in the Leningrad region.
Since the beginning of the year, there have been at least 21 such actions of vandals in 16 regions of the country.
Traditionally the most significant event over the past month for the ultra-right environment was "Russian May Day". in Moscow Two May Day marches took place , organized by ultra-right parties and associations. The first, more massive procession (according to our estimates, about 500 people) started from the Oktyabrskoye Pole metro station and moved to the Shchukinskaya metro station along the streets of Marshal Biryuzov and Vasilevsky. The second action in Lublino called "Russian Spring", organized by the Russian Action Coalition (project Party "Great Russia" and the People's Militia named after Minin and Pozharsky) was much smaller: about 150 people took part in it. With the exception of Moscow and St. Petersburg, in no city, the nationalists this year managed to significantly increase the number of activists, but the geography of the "Russian first" expanded.
Nationalists took part in general opposition processions on May 5 and 6, which were organized by the Expert Council Opposition Coordinating Council (OCC) and Opposition Coordinating Council (OCC), respectively. 5 May about 500 people gathered for the action called "Spring Freedom March", of which about half were nationalists, mostly national-Stalinists from the Initiative referendum group "For Responsible Power" (ex-"Army of the will of the people"). In May, at least 3 convictions in cases of racist violence that take into account the motive hate: in Moscow, the Stavropol Territory and the Ulyanovsk Region. Altogether in these trials, 6 people were convicted. During this period, from three Nazi skinheads Ulyanovsk from the group "Simbirsk white power" for a series of racist attacks and Daria Botvinskaya , for attacking the natives of Dagestan in the Moscow region train. The high-profile event of the month was the detention in Serbia and Ukraine of the former leader organization "Russian Image" Ilya Goryachev and a former member of the skin group OB-88 Mikhail Volkov. Investigative Committee reported that both nationalists were on the international wanted list in the case of the Combat Organization of Russian Nationalists (BORN), they are suspected of involvement in a number of high-profile murders in Russia, including the murders Judge of the Moscow City Court Eduard Chuvashov and lawyer Stanislav Markelov.
