A group of seven teenagers aged 14 to 17 and a 20-year-old resident of Balashikha (students of a local school) are suspected of five murders, one attempt, robbery, hooliganism and extremism.

All crimes took place from September to December 2009 and were committed according to the same pattern: in groups of 4 to 6, minors attacked potential victims in the city recreation park and forest park near the station, attacked them, beat them or stabbed them, then stole personal property . All the events were filmed by the accomplices on the phone. In one case, teenagers, threatening to kill, forced an 18-year-old passer-by, whom they mistook for a native of the Caucasus, to dig their own grave, beat them and were going to burn them, but then disappeared.

All victims (five people) died from numerous stab wounds of various parts of the body. As a murder weapon, the teenagers used a knife with the inscription "200 years of the Ministry of Internal Affairs", which was taken from one of the victims.

In December 2010 and March 2011, all the suspects were detained and, at the request of the investigation, arrested by a court decision.
