The Astrakhan diocese lays claim to the lyceum building

On June 14, 2013, it became known that the Astrakhan diocese pretends to the building of Lyceum No. 3. Representatives of the diocese appealed to the mayor’s office with with a request to transfer this building to the Russian Orthodox Church, since until 1917 it housed the women's diocesan school. In case of transfer, the diocese plans to use this building for a school of additional education at John the Baptist male monastery.

The decision on the transfer of the building and the eviction of the lyceum has not yet been made. Created working group considering this issue.

Parents of lyceum students are afraid of disbanding the educational institutions.
