The administration of Rossosh, at the request of Orthodox believers, banned “pagan rituals” in the city

5 July 2013 it became known that the members of the Orthodox community and the clergy of the two churches of Rossosh - Ilinskaya and Alexander Nevsky - turned to the city administration with a request to ban Neptune Day from the city.

« Many people who believe that pagan holidays are also ours traditions, do not know the true meaning of these holidays. Think dancing around the fire is harmless and there is nothing terrible about it. However, if we remember how celebrated pagan days in the past, we will see that in harmless games around the fire hides a completely different meaning. All these idle festivities ended general fornication ,” a local priest comments on the initiative.

Administration went towards the Orthodox citizens of the Rossoshsky district and forbade holding "pagan rituals as part of the celebration of Youth Day” on June 28, 2013, and at the same time the holiday of Ivan Kupala.
