The SOVA Center held a press conference

On July 9, 2013, at the Independent Press Center in Moscow, the SOVA Information and Analytical Center presented the results of its work.

The following were presented at the conference:

• Report by Natalia Yudina and Vera Alperovich “The State Duma indicated new goals to right-wing radicals: Xenophobia and radical nationalism and counteraction to them in Russia in the first half of 2013.”

• Interim results of the joint project of the Civic Assistance Committee and the SOVA Center to assist victims of hate crimes.

• A. Verkhovsky’s book “State Policy towards National Radical Associations. 1991–2002.”

• Collection of annual reports of the SOVA Center.

Director of the SOVA Center Alexander Verkhovsky presented his book “State Policy towards National Radical Associations. 1991–2002." and focused on the historical aspect of the problem.

Natalia Yudina and Vera Alperovich presented a semi-annual report on xenophobia and radical nationalism and counteraction to them in Russia in the first half of 2013. In her speech, V. Alperovich touched upon the topic of political activity of right-wing radicals, and N. Yudina focused on the criminal aspect of the activity of the far-right and announced statistical data from the SOVA Center.

Employees of the Civic Assistance Committee Ute Weinmann and Irina Sheleketova spoke about the interim results of the project “Help to Victims of Ethnic Violence”, a joint project with the SOVA IAC, implemented with the support of the German Memory Foundation. Responsibility. Future". I. Sheleketova reported on the work of the project and gave specific examples of attacks motivated by hatred. U. Weinmann shared the difficulties that employees face during the implementation of the project and spoke about the tasks that project participants hope to accomplish in the future.
