Residents of St. Petersburg ask to build a school instead of the temple

On August 8, 2013, it became known that the residents Petrogradsky district of St. Petersburg turned to President, Governor Georgy Poltavchenko and Patriarch with an open letter against the construction of a temple in the park on Lakhtinskaya street.

The building of the five-domed temple began to be built on the site of the demolished one-story house number 17, which housed the laundry. According to residents, the five-domed temple “will eat up not only part of the square, but also a significant part of the already very small courtyard area. Besides, a consequence of the construction of the temple "close to the firewall wall of house number 19" became cracks on load-bearing structures of the house.

Residents offer - until the construction of domes has begun - to change the project and place in the building not a temple, a Orthodox school of landscape gardening.
