On July 29, 2013, the Tomsk prosecutor's office announced that it had recognized nine Islamic videos found on the VKontakte social network as extremist.
According to the prosecutor's office, the videos " propaganda material related to the interpretation of certain provisions of Islam and the substantiation of the motives for the activities of radical Muslims within the Jihad. are " . Fragments of the discovered video orient viewers towards the fight against "infidels", justification and support of terrorist activities. The texts are "accompanied by video sequences with scenes of violence, images of people with weapons and external signs of belonging to paramilitary groups of radical Islamism ."
Following the results of the check, Tomsk prosecutor Viktor Fedotov filed a lawsuit to recognize these videos as extremist materials. The prosecutor's application was satisfied by the court in full. Currently, all nine videos are included in the federal list of extremist materials of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation and removed from the personal Internet page of the user Ramzan Banaev who posted them, who was convicted by the Leninsky District Court of Tomsk under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting ethnic hatred) and sentenced to 180 hours of compulsory labor.
