In reality, Ilya Lagutenko decided to develop a musical culture in the city-not to grow scallops and trepangs, but by rock groups and electronic producers. The showcase festival is the necessary tool for the development of the cultural environment and the musical industry. Its format combines the professional part with the entertainment: the stories of experts about industry and management problems, discussions and round tables on cultural topics are adjacent to the speeches of musicians who need to expand the audience. It is here that there is an acquaintance of those interested in each other, the exchange of contacts and ideas. There were not a single showcase festival in Russia before-the closest to the Russian border is held in the talline located 1000 km from Moscow, where Russian delegations are traveling-mainly from St. Petersburg. With the advent of V - Rox , young musicians from Siberia - Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk and Khabarovsk - there was more chance of getting into the industry.

It will probably be more difficult to catch up and overtake America in this part than to throw the bridge into a Russian island.

And not so much in the Russian industry (does it exist in general?). Lagutenko’s ambitious plan intends to make V - Rox important for the territory of the entire Asia -Pacific region - China, Korea, Japan, Australia - and South Africa. There, musicians and professionals have about the same problems as in Russia: there is nowhere to perform within the country, because there are not enough platforms and roads of domestic transportation, the usual media channels of information distribution - magazines, etheric radio and TV - are inferior to the Internet in which the rules of the game change daily. Nevertheless, the market is growing, and yet it is more interesting and important to establish international ties and exchange experience.

The showcase festival-like any professional event-is actually an eventful event for the uninitiated gaze. All the most important there occurs on the sidelines, in between the events of the official schedule. The most interesting groups and the most important thoughts expressed by invited speakers can remain unreasonable unprepared listeners and simply unnoticed. Nevertheless, it is beautiful and very correct that Vladivostok Rocks takes place in public areas and the most open places of the city - in the central and sports squares, in the green admiral’s square, decorated with the head of Neptune. Although this clash of worlds sometimes gives rise to comic situations. For example, the sad tone of the discussion about the fate of musical journalism, in which our first critic Artemy Troitsky took part, only a grandmother in a launcher in a launcher was cheerful: she leisurely and with dignity, like a barge loaded with the forest, went through the discussion zone in the middle of Troitsky’s speech - before the amazed views of journalists and the speaker directly. As it turned out later, this grandmother patiently waited in the square, when Troitsky began to sing (!) And, without waiting, disappointedly retired.

One of the oldest Vladivostok punk groups, which has existed since 1985. A very specific product, which the Vladivostok public did not disperse, is one of the oldest rock groups of China (however, rock is young there), singing in Mandarin Chinese. 7. "Mumiy Troll"
