The rector of the Moscow Pedagogical State University (MPSU), where at the beginning of the year there was a scandal with the "conveyor of linden dissertations", was appointed a full member of the Russian Academy of Education (RAO), doctor of physical and mathematical sciences Alexei Semenov.

"The order was signed on the appointment of Alexei Lvovich Semenov as the rector of the Moscow State Pedagogical University," - quoted by Vice President of RAO Viktor Bolotov RIA Novosti . The previous rector of the MPSU Viktor Matrosov was removed from his post in July.

Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation Viktor Matrosov has served as rector of the MPSU since 1987. Since 2005, he has been part of the Presidential Council for Science, Technologies and Education. In 2008, he was elected academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Sailors is a member of the Council and the chairman of the expert commission for the award of the Prizes of the Government of the Russian Federation in the field of vocational education, a member of the board of the Russian Union of Rectors, a member of the Club of Rectors of Europe, is still reported on the official website of the university.

In late January, after scandalous reports of plagiarism in the dissertations, a specially created commission of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science checked the MPGU. In accordance with the conclusion of the commission, on the recommendation of the Expert Council of the Supreme Certification Commission (Higher Attestation Commission) on History, as well as on the basis of the conclusion of the VAC Presidium in February, 11 people were deprived of the degree of candidate of sciences and doctors of science.
