August 13, 2013 law enforcement officers, including a representative of the center "E" of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Karachay-Cherkessia, conducted a search in the house of the Koliev family - Jehovah's Witnesses in the village. Kosta Khetagurova.
The warrant for the search was Karachay City Court, according to which the mother and daughter living in the house are engaged in “reading and distribution of extremist literature" .
All religious literature was confiscated from believers.
The Kolievs appealed to the court with a complaint against the court's decision to conduct search. On November 15, 2013, a trial took place in the case of Valentina Kolieva, initiated under Art. 20.29 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (dissemination of extremist materials). Valentina Koliyeva was accused of distributing prohibited Jehovah's Witness materials confiscated from her. The court found that Koliyeva was not engaged in the mass distribution of Jehovah's Witness materials kept in her personal library; the proceedings were terminated. However, the brochures confiscated from Koliyeva, recognized as extremist, were ordered to be destroyed by the court.
