Fine for extremist materials on VKontakte

In October 2013, a court fined a resident of Mari El for distributing extremist materials on the VKontakte network.

By order of the inter-district prosecutor Volzhsky City Court of the Republic of Mari El brought to administrative liability under Article 20.29 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (mass distribution of extremist materials included in published federal list of extremist materials, as well as their production or storage for the purpose of mass distribution) 19-year-old resident of Volzhsk Ivan Savchenkov, who posted on his personal page in the social network "VKontakte" extremist videos.

Violation has been found employees of the Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia for RME in Volzhsk during the monitoring the Internet.

By a court decision, a fine of 2,000 rubles was imposed on Savchenkov. At the request of law enforcement agencies, extremist materials have been removed from the Internet.
