What is happening with music in Kazakhstan is not visible from Russia. It is known that they can play rock and pop, and rap at a completely European level. Last week, a boom around the singer with an exotic name - Galymzhan Moldanazar arose in Russian social networks. The 25-year-old singer from Alma-Ata composes unexpectedly high-quality songs with a fashionable sound and on a fan basis and sings them on Kazakh so that the translation is not required at all:
The video on the "Comen Birg", which already has 33 thousand views on YouTube , Galymzhan shot with the help of a friend of the Shapagat Orinbaev. It turned out a sort of steppe Kaurisma or Balabanov-an ironic video with a disc and showdowns, in which Galymzhan's friends from different strata of society and local cavemers participated in specially found outfits from the 1990s participated. On the Internet, Moldanazar has already received the nicknames “Kazakh Dorn” and “Kazakh Tesla Boy ”, it is also called “Hipststjan”.
Galymzhan was born in Kyzylozek (“This village is famous for the spacious area, and that’s all, in principle”, in the 10th grade he began to write songs, then ended up in Kyzylorda, studied at the Alma-Ata Kazakh National Academy of Arts named after Zhurgenov. I met the local performer Aisa, wrote several tracks at the studio - and fell under the wing of the large production center Oorda Brothers . He wrote songs to other performers (Aise, Kairat Tuntekov, Asem, Asyl Bedelhan, Rin'go group). For the first time, the local public saw him at the musical symposium of the Hit TV channel in May 2011, where he sang the song “Zhilama Khuporem” with a rock star.
Now the singer with the "Horde" does not cooperate, engaged in his music, as well as the project of a singer named Aibek Bainazar. But the echoes of this work are still distributed. In January, in Kazakhstan, the first Kazakhstani film about the dancing “Forbidden dances” (their answer “step forward”), shot by members of the Orda group, in which its track “Alystama” was released in Kazakhstan. The picture made a noise in the country, and Moldanazar is known there first of all as the author of this song.
Many Kazakhs do not know their native language at all, Moldanazar, according to him, "grew up in the environment where they spoke Kazakh." “Well, listeners, respectively, Kazakhstanis. Of course, I am surprised, I did not expect that they would begin to listen to me in Russia, this is an undoubted plus. ” The singer’s musical diet is no different from the fact that in the iPod 'e young Muscovite or Londoner: Moby , Coldplay , Muse , Daft Punk and - unexpectedly - Deep Forest . Such idols of fashionable youth as Cut Copy and Disclosure are also familiar to him: “Of course, I listen to everything that I like and do not divide into black and white, since any style is interesting in its own way.”
Half of the tracks of Moldanazar posted on the Internet-Sint-POP and Funk, the other part-the acoustics recorded at home, sketches of songs that have yet to be electronic arrangements. Next year, the singer promises to release the album and is already considering the opportunity to sing in English. It’s a pity-it sounds more mysterious and more sincere.
Retelling the biography of Moldanazar, you feel like a description of another planet: unknown names, another hierarchy in show business. A few years ago, we wrote about the Alma-Ata Rap-Trio Buhar Jerreau , which made the noise “Most” with a clip, shot in St. Petersburg with the participation of Vladi from the “caste” and got into the A-One and MTV rotation. In their history, much was clear to us. The trio participants were clearly aimed at Russia. For them, the main sites were HIP-hop.ru and Rap.ru , their favorite album of youth-“three-dimensional rhymes”, and they answered the question of local show business: “In Kazakhstan there are two weaknesses for the musical business-the Ministry of Culture and the Department of Culture of the city of Alma-Ata.” In the case of Moldanazar, you also see a completely European music in format, far from the Soviet stage or authentic folk, but with absolutely original melodic moves and vocal twists. This is just the musical exotic that European promoters are looking for in new artists from non -European countries. The notorious "Global = Global + Lala" - compliance with world trends plus national identity or local flavor, as in the films of Kaurismaki or Balabanov.
The example of Galymzhan Moldanazar suggests that it is not at all necessary to break away from the roots and sing in English to be noticed in the country of another culture. And if other musicians from Alma-Ata follow him, then the Kazakhstan Sint-Pop has the opportunity to turn into an international phenomenon and an international brand, which once was a Finnish psychofolk or a Canadian building. Hundreds of Russian Facebook users who have gutted the “Accen Birge” cannot be mistaken.
