A guilty verdict was handed down in Chelyabinsk in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case.

In Chelyabinsk, five Hizb ut-Tahrir supporters were sentenced to various terms of imprisonment. They were found guilty, among other things, of inciting terrorism and plotting to seize power. From our point of view, these accusations are unfounded and unsubstantiated.

On November 21, 2013, the Chelyabinsk Regional Court announced verdict in the case of involvement in Hizb ut-Tahrir.

Five people were convicted. Marat Bazarbaev, born in 1976, Rushat Valiev, born in 1982, Rinat Idelbaev, born in 1980, Vadim Nasyrov, born in 1981, each sentenced to 6 years in prison strict regime colony, as well as a fine of 150 thousand rubles. In addition, they were given an additional punishment in the form of a year of restriction. freedom after release from prison.

35-year-old Rinat Galiullin sentenced to 6 years and 6 months imprisonment in a strict regime colony, with restriction of freedom for 1 year.

All of them were found guilty under Part 1 of Art. 205.1 CC (involvement in the commission of crimes of a terrorist nature or other assistance their commission), part 2 of Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code (participation in the activities of an extremist organizations), part 1 of Art. 30, art. 278 of the Criminal Code (preparation for violent takeover). Galiullin, in addition, was found guilty under Part 1 of Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code (organization of the activities of an extremist organization). Idelbaev was also accused under Part 1 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls for extremist activity), however, the court considered such qualification of his acts to be unnecessary.

We consider this verdict partially unjustified. Charges of incitement to terrorism and preparations for a violent seizure of power were made only on the basis of the party activity of the defendants (meetings, distribution of literature, etc.), no other evidence of these charges was presented.

On January 17, 2014 it became known that the Human Rights Center Memorial declared all those convicted in this case to be political prisoners.
