In Tatarstan, a child received a blood transfusion against the will of his believing parents

On November 20, 2013, it became known that the Tatarstan prosecutor's office had obtained a blood transfusion operation for a child whose parents refused to do so for religious reasons.

Employees of the Children's Republican Clinical Hospital (DRCH) contacted the prosecutor's office with a complaint that the parents of a newborn admitted from Chistopol did not consent to a blood transfusion, which is why the child's life was in danger.

Through the mediation of the prosecutor's office, a claim was sent to the Privolzhsky District Court of Kazan, which was considered the next day. The court upheld the hospital's claim and gave permission for the operation. The newborn received a blood transfusion.

The prosecutor's office did not indicate the religion of the baby's parents. Apparently, we are talking about Jehovah's Witnesses.

On November 22, 2013, the press service of the Administrative Center of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia confirmed that the mentioned citizens do not belong to the community of Jehovah's Witnesses. Sources
