In Tver, a VKontakte user was convicted of inciting hatred

On November 21, 2013, in Tver, a user of the VKontakte network was convicted of calls for the physical elimination of Jews, law enforcement officers, and members of their families."

On November 21, 2013, the Zavolzhsky District Court of the city of Tver considered in open court a criminal case against a local resident working as a security guard, accused under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (incitement of national hatred).

The blogger posted on the social network VKontakte " photo images in the form of fascist and Nazi symbols, naked men with tattoos in the form of fascist swastikas and slogans, as well as calls for the physical elimination of law enforcement officers, members of their families, and Jews ."

According to the conclusion of a linguistic forensic examination, the materials contain information aimed at inciting national hatred and enmity.

At the court hearing, the defendant fully admitted his guilt and petitioned for a sentence to be imposed without a trial. Having considered the defendant's petition, the court found it to be granted. The case was considered in a special procedure for judicial proceedings (see the SOVA Center's certificate “Special procedure for judicial proceedings ”).

The court found the man guilty under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to a fine to the state in the amount of 100,000 rubles. The verdict did not enter into legal force.
