The World Russian People's Council calls on law enforcement officers to protect the Orthodox communities of Tatarstan from representatives of radical Islam.
November 29, 2013 Human Rights Center of the World Russian People's Cathedral (VRNS) addressed an open letter to representatives of law enforcement bodies of the Russian Federation. Representatives of the VRNS are concerned about "attacks on Orthodox churches" in Tatarstan and consider them manifestations of radical Islam.
" Calls attention the fact that most of the affected temples were Kryashen [in in these temples, worship is conducted in the national language, close to Tatar - ed.] while that Islamists have a special hatred for this Orthodox people ,” the text says.
Human Rights Center VRNS compared the situation in Tatarstan with the situation Christian churches in Syria, Egypt, Iraq and Pakistan and called law enforcement to take action to protect the Orthodox community of the republic .”
Recall that on the night of November 17, 2013, unknown people set fire to a prayer house in honor of the martyr. Demetrius of Thessalonica in the village of Lenino, Novosheshminsky district and a church in honor of New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia in Chistopol. On the night of November 29, 2013 at In Tatarstan, two more churches burned down - in the village of Albay, Mamadyshsky district, and in the village of Baptized Kazyli, Rybnoslobodsky district (there were no worship).
