Dmitry Medvedev - for freedom of conscience

6 December 2013, in an interview with journalists, Dmitry Medvedev touched on the topic of freedom conscience.

answering to the question " Support Do you have an initiative to include a mention of Orthodoxy in the Constitution?”, Chairman government said that, in his opinion, " the Constitution should be changed only in case of emergency, when we believe that some provisions of the Constitution either have not stood the test of time, or weaken the general state construction, and this, of course, does not concern the fundamental rights and freedoms person ."

" According to regulations In our Constitution, in fact, freedom of conscience is proclaimed: everyone chooses to the church according to his feelings or says that he is an atheist. Establishment no special preferences are allowed. This is the civilized approach to this relationship ,” he continued.

D. Medvedev recalled that in The United Russia party includes not only Christians, but also Muslims. Besides, he said of his personal religiosity and the belief that " religious feeling should not be associated with party ticket ."
