Levada Center counted believers

Sociologists once again counted believers. Majority Christians do not go to church services and never take communion.

On December 24, 2013, a survey by the Levada Center about religious affiliation of Russians.

19% of those surveyed identified themselves as non-believers. 68% identified themselves as Orthodox, 7% - to Muslims, 1% - to Catholics and Protestants. Judaism and other religions were chosen by less than 1% of respondents. 4% found it difficult to answer.

At the same time, 35% of those participating in the survey have never visited services, 16% go to services once a year, 13% - even less often, about once a month - 6%.

Among those who identified themselves as Orthodox and Catholics, 62% never take communion, 22% take communion once a year or less, and only 4% - once a week.

The survey was conducted on November 15-18, 2013. It adopted participation 1603 people from 130 settlements in 45 regions of Russia.
