Activist in Sochi? Register as an "extremist"

On December 25, 2013, Sochi social activist Olga Noskovets was summoned to the police, where she was asked to register as "a person seen in extremist activity" .

On December 26, 2013, it became known that the day before, on December 25, Olga Noskovets, a member of the Yabloko party and the Environmental Watch for the North Caucasus, was summoned to the criminal investigation department of the Sochi Internal Affairs Directorate.

As Olga Noskovets said, in the department she was offered to fill out a kind of "registration card for controlled persons seen in extremist activities," in which all information about her should be recorded, starting with a biography, ending with the presence of tattoos on the body.

Noskovets refused to fill out the card. However, according to the activist, she was forced to write a notice addressed to the head of the Sochi Department of Internal Affairs, in which she undertakes to express her civil position in accordance with the law of the Russian Federation.

Noskovets regards this call to the police as pressure from the authorities in connection with her public activities. We also consider actions police as illegal and unlawful; probably, the local police thus "increases vigilance" on the eve of the Olympics.
