Komi national patriots oppose the construction of a mosque in Vorkuta.

February 4, 2014 members of the organization "Frontier of the North" appealed to the head of the Komi Republic with protest against the construction of a mosque in Vorkuta.

" Religious building, the construction of which financed by unknown sponsors (possibly from the budget), will be practically in the very center of the city opposite the Orthodox Church of the Iberian Icon Mother of God , - it is said in the text. This fact may serve as a starting point inter-ethnic and inter-confessional tension in the polar city .

The authors of the text demand the cancellation of the decision to highlight Muslim community of the land plot: “We hope that the documents on allocation of land for the construction of a mosque will be canceled, since there was no public hearings on this important issue, which concerns not only residents of Vorkuta, but also all residents of the Komi Republic .”

Open letter signed by about 100 people.

Recall that in 2009 and 2010 year national patriots of Komi opposed the construction of a mosque in Syktyvkar.
