An exhibition of sketches of a monument to the soldiers of the 6th company of the Pskov division has opened in St. Petersburg. Petersburg officials, military men and artists continue to discuss the concept of the future monument to the soldiers of the 6th company of the 76th air assault division stationed in Pskov. It will be installed in the Military Glory Park, at the intersection of John Reed and Badaev streets. An exhibition of sketches of competitive projects was opened in the building of the Union of Artists. The members of the jury were the first to see it, and after a heated debate, they almost decided on the choice. At the moment, preference is given to a sketch, in which the monument is depicted as a 13-meter stele in the shape of a harp, next to which stands a bronze figure of a paratrooper. According to the author's idea, the harp should symbolize a kind of "symphony of heroism." This sketch is still the main contender for victory in the competition. The competition of projects to create a monument to the 6th company is held for the second time. The previous competition was declared invalid. / PLN

Ostrov United Russia decided to nominate Lyudmila Shershneva, chairman of the district Assembly, for the post of head of the municipality. The decision was made on February 28, in Ostrov, during the second stage of the XIII conference of the Ostrovsky city and regional local branch of the United Russia party. Two applicants were considered: the chairman of the Assembly of Deputies of the Ostrovsky district, Lyudmila Shershneva, and her deputy, director of MUP PZHREU, Vladimir Nikiforov. As a result of the voting, Shershneva won 33 votes, and the second candidate was only two votes behind her.
