On March 5, 2014, the governor of the Vologda Oblast, Oleg Kuvshinnikov, asked the regional prosecutor's office to conduct an extremism check against journalist Roman Romanenko.
On March 4, 2014, Romanenko posted on his page in Facebook text stylized as an appeal to the President of Russia with a request send troops to the Vologda Oblast, whose population is suffering from devastation and needs protection of its rights and cash infusions. Romanenko's entry has collected more than 4 thousand "likes" and almost 3.5 thousand reposts, which attracted the attention of the authorities. Romanenko was called for an interview with the prosecutor.
Governor Kuvshinnikov, confirmed that the prosecutor's check was organized in in accordance with his request "to give assessment for signs of extremist activity, inciting social, national and linguistic strife" in Romanenko's text.
From our point of view, there is not the slightest signs of extremism.
