Altai imam appealed the verdict
Former Imam of the Kosh-Agachsky District of the Altai Republic Serzhan Svatov, found guilty of organizing the activities of an extremist organization, appealed the verdict.
On April 3, 2014, it became known that the former imam of Kosh-Agach district of the Republic of Altai Serzhan Svatov, found guilty of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code (organization of activities banned organization) and sentenced to a fine of 100 thousand rubles and a ban conduct religious activities for two years, filed an appeal complaint to the court of second instance.
The matchmaker asks for the annulment of the sentence and full acquittal. Former imam Kosh-Agach region denies its affiliation with Tablighi Jamaat and considers criminal prosecution unfounded.
Recall that Matchmakers and the imam of the mosque in the village of Tashanta Khaidar-Ali Bugusynov (case against which it was terminated due to the expiration of the statute of limitations) were accused of being followers of Tablighi Jamaat, distributing among local residents the ideology of this movement.
