Access to the online library Bookmate was blocked due to the presence of a banned book, and no one notified the library about the blocking, and the management learned about it only through complaints from readers.
On April 4, 2014 it became known that a number of the Russian providers, in including Rostelecom, blocked the Bookmate network library .
The reason for the blocking, as it turned out, was placed on Bookmate book by Igor Sinyavin "The Path of Truth", recognized extremist on October 9, 2012 by the Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Krasnoyarsk and included to the Federal List of Extremist Materials (p. 2061).
At the same time, the library learned about the problems of access to it in fact accidentally - from complaints from users for whom the site was unavailable. The Bookmate management was not informed about the blocking, but to find out what was its cause, it was possible only with the help of readers who sent inquiries. " Support works only with ordinary users. … Find out why you blocked, you can't. … A clear formal roadmap for online business in case of blockages, no ," a spokesperson for Bookmate said.
The forbidden book has been removed, access to the library has been restored.
This episode, in our opinion, once again demonstrates the lack of existing legislation to regulate the Internet, including the lack of systems of interaction between regulators, providers and site owners.
