Pussy Riot's sentence changed

On April 4, 2014, the Presidium of the Moscow City Court partially satisfied the supervisory complaint of members of the Pussy Riot group against the sentence handed down by Khamovnichesky court.

The court changed the legal basis for a guilty verdict: the reference to conviction based on hatred of any social group was excluded. Thus, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alyokhina, Ekaterina Samutsevich found guilty of committing hooliganism motivated by religious hatred, by a group of persons by prior arrangement.

The court mitigated the sentence for a month, respectively, the participants groups Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina received one year each and eleven months of imprisonment with serving a sentence in a general colony regime, and Ekaterina Samutsevich - one year and eleven months probation.

Recall that we consider the sentence handed down to the members of the group, illegal.
