On April 22, 2014, it became known that Denis Gerasimov, the leader of the far-right musical group Kolovrat, was detained in Moscow.
The detention of the musician was reported in the media by one of the leaders of the ultra-right movement “Russians”, Dmitry Demushkin. He said that D. Gerasimov was detained in connection with the investigation of a certain case under Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (incitement of national hatred).
The police conducted searches in his apartment and dacha. Gerasimov was taken to Kaluga, where investigative actions were carried out with him as part of a criminal case. According to Demushkin, the case was initiated on April 9.
On April 23, Denis Gerasimov was released on his own recognizance.
Let us remind you that the Kolovrat group was founded in 1994. Since its founding, it has earned popularity among Russian neo-Nazis and nationalists.
A number of the group’s songs are included in the Federal List of Extremist Materials. In 2004, they tried , albeit unsuccessfully, to convict Denis Gerasimov for racist propaganda in the Czech Republic. On November 4, 2009 and 2013, the group performed at the Russian Marches.
