The editor-in-chief of the Crimean Tatar newspaper received a warning

On June 3, 2014, in Simferopol, Shevket Kaibullaev, editor-in-chief of the Crimean Tatar newspaper Avdet, was warned against violating the law on countering extremism. The reason for the sanctions was the use of the expressions "annexation", "occupation" and "temporary occupation of Crimea".

June 3, 2014 editor-in-chief of the Crimean Tatar newspaper "Avdet" Shevket Kaybullaev was summoned to the Simferopol prosecutor's office for a conversation within the framework of the check " on the fact of violation of the requirements of the law of the Russian Federation "On countering extremist activity" by the leadership of the printed editions ".

The prosecutor's office issued a warning to the editor-in-chief about the inadmissibility violations of the law. Claims, according to Kaibullaev, caused terms "annexation", "occupation" and "temporary occupation of Crimea" used in the materials of the publication.

In our opinion, the warning was issued unlawfully and leads to a restriction of freedom of speech.
