In Yakutia, the mufti was fined for distributing extremist literature

In Yakutia, the head of a Muslim organization was involved in administrative responsibility for the distribution of literature recognized extremist.

June 2, 2014 Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) announced the initiation of proceedings under Art. 20.29 Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (production and dissemination of extremist materials) in relation to the chairman of the local religious Muslim organizations.

In February 2014, in the premises of the prayer house in the village of Khandyga literature included in the Federal List of Extremist materials. Mufti Musa Sagov was fined 3,000 rubles for its dissemination. Literature removed.

It is not reported which publications are in question. However, the fact that the books were confiscated from the prayer house, where they were in the public domain, suggests that these are some kind of classic texts that were illegally recognized as extremist.

On June 5, 2014, Sagov stated that he was not responsible for the mosque in the Khandygi village, since it was not on the balance sheet of the "Spiritual Center", and announced his intention to appeal the court's decision.
