Imams from Novosibirsk excluded from Rosfinmonitoring list

At the end of June 2014, it became known that Ilkhom Merazhov and Kamil Odilov were excluded from the List organizations and individuals in respect of which there is information about their involvement in extremist activity or terrorism.

On June 30, 2014 it became known that the Federal Service for Financial Monitoring Committee excluded Imams Ilkhom Merazhov and Kamil Odilov, who were convicted in Novosibirsk in 2013, from the List organizations and individuals in respect of which there is information about their involvement in extremist activity or terrorism.

Recall that the imams were found guilty of organized the activities of a religious association in Novosibirsk "Nurcular", knowing that it is banned as an extremist organization. In January 2014, Merazhov and Odilov filed a complaint against the verdict with the ECtHR, and in April 2014 - to the Supreme Court.

The only reason for persecuting Merazhov and Odilov was the fact that they studied the books of the Turkish theologian Said Nursi. We are not we consider it lawful neither to ban the books of Said Nursi, nor to ban the association "Nurcular", which did not exist in Russia at all: there are separate believers who face unreasonable persecution for studying books Nursi.
