In August 2014, a criminal case was opened in the Republic of Altai for publications in the weekly journal Listok.
On August 7, 2014, the RF Investigative Committee for the Republic of Altai was informed that a criminal case had been opened under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (incitement of national hatred and enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity).
According to investigators, on May 12, 2014, in Gorno-Altaisk (Altai Republic), unidentified persons posted on the website of the information and analytical weekly Listok "an article with a link to a website whose content is aimed at inciting hatred and enmity towards the Russian population ."
Unfortunately, we do not know what exactly attracted the attention of the prosecutor's office. Note that we do not consider it right to initiate a criminal case for only one link, but we cannot assess the legality of the actions of law enforcement officers, since the context in which the link was placed, which became the reason for criminal prosecution, is currently unavailable for analysis (the site is blocked). In addition, there is a possibility that this criminal case may be an attempt to settle accounts with the founder of "Listok", a deputy of the local State Assembly, Sergei Mikhailov. Sources
