Almost two -thirds of Russians approve the policy of President Vladimir Putin against Ukraine, being sure that his actions and statements contribute to the peaceful resolution of the military conflict in this country, the All -Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion ( VTsIOM ) reports. In the course of the population he conducted at the end of July, 63% of respondents expressed such an opinion.
Almost half of the study participants (47%) considers Putin the main goal of Putin to achieve peace and tranquility in the Donbass and Ukraine as a whole. A third of the respondents (36%) believes that the leader of the Russian Federation seeks to prevent NATO troops to Ukraine. Another 33% of respondents see Putin’s mission in protecting the Russian -speaking population of Eastern Ukraine. 29% of respondents called the main task of the President the protection of the economic interests of Russia in Ukraine.
16% of citizens surveyed believes that Putin wants to act as an intermediary in negotiations of the parties conflicting in Ukraine. A little less (13%) suggests that the Russian president in a word and business prevents Ukraine to enter the European Union.
10% of the survey participants see Putin's purpose to join the eastern territories of Ukraine, where there are battles between Ukrainian security forces and separatists, to Russia, as already happened to the Crimea. Another 9% believe that thanks to the conflict in eastern Ukraine, Putin seeks to distract the attention of the Kyiv authorities from Crimea.
Against this background, the opinion of 1% respondents who believe that Putin has no goals in the Ukrainian conflict is bewildered. It is difficult to imagine that Putin did something just like that, and even more so in such a serious issue as Ukrainian, actually quarreling Russia with the West and led to mutual sanctions , observers notice.
Putin's electoral rating remains high, showed another survey
Meanwhile, the Levada Center reports stable electoral support of the current President of the Russian Federation. During a survey conducted by the sociologists of this analytical center, to vote for Putin, if the presidential elections took place in the near future, expressed a readiness of 52% of all respondents or 82% of those who have already decided on their choice.
“Putin’s rating is growing due to interest in his activities, an interest in the elections and willingness to support his policy is increasing,” Alexei citizens explained to the “Vedomosti” deputy director of the Levada Center. In his opinion, part of the electorate of the RESULT leader of the Communist Party of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov, for the elderly population of the Russian Federation, was also reduced to the current president, the accession of Crimea to Russia under Putin symbolizes the desired return of the Soviet Union under Putin.
Putin is now at the peak of popularity, but by the 2018 presidential election, his rating will fall approximately to the level of 2012-2013, the famous political strategist Konstantin Kalachev, whose opinion is also given in this article, predicts. “The main dominant of Putin’s strategy is that he is also an uncontested king, and the king does not choose,” and the lack of understandable replacement is a consequence of the fact that in society there is still a request for stability, which contradicts the internal request for the empire, the expert believes.
Earlier, the head of the Levada Center Lev Gudkov predicted the gradual fall of Putin’s rating by November of this year, since the surge of national pride, in his opinion, cannot be long in time, and even heating the external threat cannot give a long-term effect.
