Swastika as a symbol of religion

On August 12, 2014, the press service of the Oktyabrsky District Court of Orsk reported that a student had been fined for taking a photo with a swastika on a social network.

On August 12, 2014, the press service of the Oktyabrsky District Court of Orsk reported that, during Internet monitoring, it was found that on one of the pages on the social network owned by a student of SamGUPS, photographs were freely available that contained images of the Nazi swastika and paraphernalia.

On this fact, proceedings were initiated on an administrative offense under Part 1 of Art. 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (propaganda and public display of Nazi symbols).

At the court session, the netizen pleaded not guilty and stated that the swastika is a symbol of his religion.

The court found the student guilty and imposed a fine of 1,000 rubles.
