Journalist beaten in St. Petersburg

On August 24, 2014, Arseniy Vesnin, a correspondent for the Ekho Moskvy radio station in St. Petersburg, was beaten while covering a rally in support of Ukraine.

The police reported that the statement was accepted, and the suspect in the assault was taken to the station.

Vesnin told the radio station that people with St. George's ribbons attacked him, knocked him to the ground and began kicking him in the face. On his Facebook page, the journalist published a photo of the man who beat him and said the following: “The picketers and activists were attacked by representatives of nationalist pro-Russian groups... The man with the photo first kicked me in the arm and the microphone. The police did not detain him. Then I "I met him half an hour later. He started kicking him in the face. He knocked out the tablet, the microphone, and knocked off his glasses." In a photograph on a social network, the attacker can be seen holding a bag with the symbols of the National Liberation Movement (NLM).

The victim left a statement with the police. The journalist suffered a concussion and a closed craniocerebral injury.
