A student from Novosibirsk got into practice in the Pskov Province and was in the center of the information cyclone
Probably, first it’s worth telling who I am, what I live and "why Pskov?" My name is Dmitry, I am studying in Novosibirsk at the Faculty of Journalism. The second course. I can’t say that since childhood I clearly knew who I want to become. In my dreams (from childhood to the present) there were very versatile professions: a paleontologist, cook, Feesshnik, Africanist and Orientalist, philosopher, philologist and, finally, a journalist. The idea of becoming a journalist was born after a crash of hopes to go to philosophy. It was chaotic, impulsive, brightly burning, like the birth of a supernova, an idea.

Having entered the Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University, I found what I like - journalism. Teachers are interested in the subject interestingly, unusual freedom reigns at the university, which was simply absent at school. I myself choose what to teach me, whether to teach, I am responsible for my problems myself, I myself form the circle of my interests for knowledge. I never liked the school construction system, so NGPU was a great discovery for me.
So we met. So why Pskov?
I have a girl here. For reference: from Novosibirsk to Pskov - more than four thousand kilometers. Yes, I did not find closer. Yes, there are no other girls in Novosibirsk.
Since we should take a monthly practice in some publication annually, I chose Pskov with my goal in order to kill two birds with one shot: to stay with the girl and go through the practice.
Starting the search for the editorial office for practice, I went to the sites of three editions (now I don’t remember which ones), and including the Pskov province. They answered me only from it (and then only after I wrote directly to the editor, and not by the common mail).
Having bought a ticket, I soon got to Pskov. Pskov met me in the early morning and complete loneliness (the girl was repressed in the village, and the editors did not know that I arrived).
I will not pull the rubber, I will say that after wandering around the city in the city, I phoned the editor, and Svetlana Vladimirovna found where to attach my luggage during the search for the living space. Freed from things, I went to look for an apartment, armed with a newspaper. By five o’clock in the evening I already got an apartment.
This is not the first time I came to your city, before that I was here last year. I came to my girlfriend, but because of the lack of funds, I stayed here for only six days.
Pskov is much smaller than Novosibirsk. When I was looking for the street I needed, the inhabitants told me: “Altaeva? Oh, this is far. Thirty minutes walk. Better by bus. " And I thought: “Is thirty minutes far? Yes, from my grandfather’s house the same distance separates me. And I walk it on foot. Sometimes, to get to the university, you have to go more. ” But I like small cities. There are much more greenery, many architectural monuments: the Pskov Kremlin, fortress walls, ancient temples. Of course, we also have beautiful structures, but not so ancient and powerful. I did not have time to visit Izborsk, but still ahead. But he looked at the roar tower, rolled on a catamaran and even managed to feed the ducks, and in general he had a good time.
I can’t say that we have a different climate. But definitely one thing: the summer here is more authentic than in Novosibirsk. And the temperature regime almost coincides. Well, perhaps in winter, minus forty-three happens (but in buses plus twenty-six, and because of the number of people sometimes we have to show miracles of acrobatics). However, the number of cars here is approximately equal to the number in the Siberian capital. The ratio in Pskov, as I heard, is one car for two people, and in Novosibirsk - one to three.
It's nice to walk around the city when you can reach the house in thirty minutes. Of course, it was unpleasantly upset that the city is not so clean rivers to swim. Yes, and the purity of the coast leaves much to be desired: near the water there is garbage, beer bottles, packs of cigarettes and mud. It is clear that Tina is a natural product, but the bottles of alcohol are clearly left not by fish and birds. In the center of the city there are destroyed, empty houses, which also cling to the eyes unpleasantly. To my questions in the editorial office they told me that it is impossible to demolish them (security zone), but it is expensive to restore. In addition, apparently, these buildings have an owner who, for some reason, simply does not engage in their restoration.
The editorial device pleasantly pleased me. Although few people work here, they work for the idea and do what every journalist is obliged to do: they carry out an adequate, objective informing of society. There is no clear time of the start of the working day. Everyone calculates his own day, based on his plans. This, I admit, I have not seen in any newspaper yet (although I can’t say that I have seen them a lot). The editor tried to choose interesting tasks for me: for example, I went to the Pskov lake and looked at the fishermen clean its bottom from old networks (PG, Avgiev Lake, No. 704). I also managed to work with the letters of readers, the result of which was the publication “Even the traffic cops park on lawns” in No. 703 of the PG.
I also witnessed the sensation of the All-Russian level that caused a huge stir: information about the military who died under the Lugansk military from the 76th Guards Airborne Division. I saw journalists from Reiters, Novaya Gazeta, Rain. And the other day he found out that our director - Lev Schlosberg - was greatly beaten in the evening, and now he is in the hospital. This news left an unpleasant precipitate in the soul and forced to recall the leaves and Politkovskaya again, as well as other killed journalists. Is the habit of forceing to be silent with the help of fists will never come out of the everyday life of those who really cut not only eyes, but also ears, and sometimes completely a pocket?
I can say with confidence that I had the most interesting and saturated practice. The next year (of course, to guess early) I'm going to come here again.
