Andrei TURCHAK, Acting Governor of the Pskov Region: “The police are obliged to restore order and ensure safety on our streets. I demand from the police authorities to conduct a thorough investigation of what happened to the deputy of the Pskov Regional Assembly Lev Shlosberg, I take the course of the investigation under personal control. I have already applied to the head of the regional Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Boris Govorun, so that round-the-clock security was assigned to Lev Shlosberg for the period of the investigation. On my own behalf, I wish Lev Shlosberg a speedy recovery.”

Dunja MIJATOVIC, OSCE Representative on Freedom of Expression: “The latest attacks are evidence of the deteriorating security situation for journalists in Russia. Attacks on journalists are unacceptable and should not be tolerated, the perpetrators cannot go unpunished. I urge the authorities to conduct a prompt and thorough investigation to find those responsible for the attack and its masterminds."

Sergei MITROKHIN, chairman of the YABLOKO party: “Law enforcement agencies had no reason to talk about hooligans. The scoundrels tracked down Schlosberg at his house, attacked him without saying a word to him. After their first blow, Schlobserg lost consciousness, he was beaten for several more minutes. The criminals ran away only when they saw that there were witnesses. What if there were no witnesses? And we are told that the main version is hooliganism.”

Grigory YAVLINSKY, deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg: "I believe that the attack on Lev Shlosberg is connected with his investigation into sending Pskov paratroopers to Ukraine."

Alexander KOTOV, Chairman of the Pskov Regional Assembly of Deputies: “We must make every effort to find those responsible for the attack on the deputy of the Pskov Regional Assembly Lev Shlosberg. We will be following the investigation into this egregious incident. The names and motives of the attackers must be made public, and the perpetrators must be punished. Lev Shlosberg is a politician. His weapons are words and arguments. In a civilized country, no conflicts should be resolved by low and vile street attack. We wish our colleague good health and strength.”

Igor SAVITSKY, deputy of the Pskov Regional Assembly (KPRF): “There can be no assumptions. Lev Shlosberg paid the price for his political views. This crime shows that people who oppose Lev Shlosberg have a very weak position and cannot prove it in a civilized manner, without the use of force. All the propaganda bacchanalia that unfolded on state television led to the fact that people began to sort things out using such methods. I believe that the media are directly responsible for what is happening in Pskov today.”

Oleg BRIACHAK, deputy of the Pskov Regional Assembly (Fair Russia): “I think that the attack on my colleague Lev Markovich Shlosberg is connected with his political activities. This is a serious, intelligent, prominent politician who is not afraid to express his opinion and oppose himself to any forces. He has a wonderful feature - not to adapt to someone, but to say what he sees fit and justify his position. Probably, someone does not like it, Lev Shlosberg says what he considers necessary, and someone does not like it.
