The Union of Orthodox Brotherhoods opposed the installation of hatches with the image of St. George

October 24, 2014 Chairman Union of Orthodox Brotherhoods addressed with an open a letter to the Moscow authorities with a call to abandon the installation of "blasphemous" sewer manholes with the image of St. George ( designed by Art. Lebedev's studio).

« We are the Union of Orthodox Banner Bearers, the Union of Orthodox Brotherhoods and the Order of St. George Victorious, - we consider these hatches a blasphemous mockery of feelings believers: image the saint is applied to the sewer manhole, under which sewage will flow, the image is applied intentionally distorted image the saint will be trampled under foot, that   falls under Article 148 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "- stated in the text of the appeal.

The authors of the text call on citizens sign this letter and declare their intention to report to the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation about " deliberately insulting the religious feelings of believers ."
