Xenophobic graffiti artist convicted in Kurgan

In October 2014, a verdict was passed in Kurgan for xenophobic slogans on the walls of buildings.

On October 30, 2014, the Kurgan City Court delivered a verdict in a criminal case against a 20-year-old local resident. He was found guilty under Part 1 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public calls for the implementation of extremist activities), part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting national hatred).

The court found that in April 2014 the accused wrote on the walls with an aerosol can and a marker buildings" appeals, aimed at inciting hatred towards a group of persons on the grounds of nationality and attitude to religion ." During the investigation, it was possible establish six episodes of such activities of the accused. He left graffiti on the facades buildings of the Department of the Federal Migration Service of Russia in Kurgan and a residential building on the street. Koli Myagotina, at the stop at st. The court sentenced the graffiti artist to a punishment of 2.5 years in prison freedom conditionally, with a probationary period of 1 year 6 months, imprisonment for 1.5 years of the right to engage in activities related to the mass media information.
