Orthodox residents of Bashkiria oppose the construction of a Muslim center on former church land.

November 11, 2014 it became known that parishioners of the Church of the Intercession in Ufa sent to the head  Republic and the prosecutor a letter in which they oppose the construction Muslim business and leisure center "Muslim City" next to the church. Letter signed by 800 people.

The authors of the text argue that for the construction of the specified spiritual center Muslim administration was allocated 20 hectares of land, including a plot of 5 hectares, which was church land before the revolution. This area is currently all outbuildings of the parish are located: the baptismal, the building of the Sunday schools, prosphora, laundry, sacristy and warehouses. Believers fear that these buildings will be demolished.

In a letter The prosecutor of Bashkiria was also told that for 7 years now the parish has been asking in vain authorities to transfer the specified disputed plot to the parish.

« The parishioners of the Intercession Church categorically object to the creation of a Muslim business center "Muslim City" in the city Ufa, since the Russian Federation, including the Republic of Bashkortostan, is secular state, where no religion can be established as state or compulsory, where religious associations are separated from states and are equal before the law ,” the text of the letter also says.

Members Orthodox community sent a letter of similar content to the Central spiritual administration of Muslims of Russia. « What it will turn out if every religious organization claims to allocation of its zone on a religious basis? The territory of the city of Ufa will divided into zones? Will it promote interfaith peace and consent? ", - asks the author of the claim.
