Perm region: sentence passed on followers of Nursi
In Perm, six followers of Said Nursi were sentenced to fines for organizing and participating in the activities of an extremist organization.
On December 23, 2014, it became known that in Perm the Magistrate's Court of District No. 37 delivered a verdict in the case under Art. 282.2 CC (organization and participation in the activities of an extremist organization) in relation to six followers of the Turkish theologian Said Nursi, who were accused of continuing the activities of the Nurcular organization banned for extremism. The defendants were sentenced to 30 to 100 thousand rubles. The verdict has not entered into force.
It is reported that three defendants - Elnur Kerimov, Ertugrul Ergin and another person - were found guilty under Part 1 of Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code (organization activities of an extremist organization), three - Ramil Kerimov, Magomedov (name unknown) and Tazhiev (name unknown) - under Part 2 of Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code (participation in the activities of an extremist organization). Among them is a Turkish citizen, three Azerbaijani citizens and a Russian citizen.
Initially, there were seven suspects in the case, but one of the defendants in the case, a citizen of Russia Vyacheslav Solovyov, by the Magistrate's Court of District No. 36 of the city of Perm on June 24, 2014, was sentenced to a suspended sentence for a year under Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code.
Recall that we do not consider it lawful to ban the works of Said Nursi, which do not contain any extreme statements, as well as the Nurcular organization, which did not exist in Russia. We oppose the persecution of individual believers studying the books of Nursi.
