Russia recognizes the Islamic State and Jabhat al-Nusra as terrorist organizations

The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, at the suit of the Prosecutor General's Office, recognized organizations "Islamic State" and "Dzhebhat al-Nusra" terrorist.

On December 29, 2014, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation recognized terrorist international organizations "Islamic State" and "Dzhebhat an-Nusra." The Prosecutor General's Office filed a lawsuit to recognize them as terrorists.

The meeting was held behind closed doors, the reasons for the decision are not explained, only the operative part was announced.

Recall that the list of organizations recognized terrorist decisions of the Supreme Court, before the decision on "Islamic state” and “Dzhebhat al-Nusra” included 19 organizations. Sources
