At the end of 2014, annual meetings were held in many dioceses of the Russian Orthodox Church, where statistical data were given. We publish information about some dioceses.
On December 23, 2014, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, during the annual meeting of the diocese of the city of Moscow, announced the statistical data. According to him, there are 934 churches and 122 chapels in the diocese. Of these, in 436 churches of the city (including 7 male and 7 female monasteries), services are held at least once a week and there are parish communities.
The Patriarch clarified that since 2014, when counting the churches of the diocese, there have been changes: if earlier all the churches where the liturgy is celebrated were taken into account, now only those where the liturgy takes place at least once a week are counted, and “Monasteries, parishes and Patriarchal residences, on the territory which there are several temples are counted as one unit. Taking into account these changes, we can say that the number of real parishes in Moscow increased from 403 to 436 during the year. As part of the "Program-200" in 2014, 20 churches were built, however, construction and installation work, including connection of heating and electricity, completed in only five of them.
There are 19 bishops, 1,190 priests and 382 deacons serving in churches in Moscow - a total of 1,591 clergy. Another 1,828 people are residents of 32 stavropegial monasteries (15 men's and 17 women's): in men's - 932 nuns, in women's - 896 nuns.
In St. Petersburg, the diocesan meeting took place on December 15. Metropolitan Varsonofy of St. Petersburg and Ladoga, in his report, said that there are 220 parishes in the St. Petersburg diocese , 21 of them opened in 2014. There are 269 churches in the diocese (of which 77 are house and 4 are departmental). In the course of four years, 25 churches have been handed over to the diocese, 10 more churches and 25 "church buildings" have not yet been handed over.
There are 695 clerics in the diocese - 527 priests and 167 deacons. During the year, 37 deacons and 15 priests are ordained. 9 clerics (4 priests and 5 deacons) are enrolled for the staff, one is prohibited from serving.
On December 22, 2014, a diocesan meeting was held in the Moscow (regional) diocese . In his report, Metropolitan Yuvenaly of Krutitsy and Kolomna cited the following data: there are 1,147 parishes and 24 monasteries, 1,578 churches and 241 chapels in the diocese, where 1,463 clerics serve - 1,349 priests and 114 deacons. During the year, 28 churches were consecrated, 15 new parishes were formed, 43 deacons and 40 priests were ordained, 15 clergymen were appointed for the staff, 18 were forbidden to serve.
In the Bryansk diocese, the annual meeting was held on December 25. According to the given data, there are 121 churches in the diocese (108 parish and 13 monastic). During the year, 2 churches were consecrated, construction of 2 more began. Data on the clergy is not given.
On December 23, Metropolitan Sergiy of Voronezh and Liskinsky spoke about the state of the Voronezh diocese . As of December 2014, 188 parishes are registered in it, there are three monasteries (1 male and 2 female). There are 273 clerics in the staff of the diocese - 239 priests and 34 deacons, 9 more people (6 priests and 3 deacons) are prohibited from serving. During the year, 15 priests and 17 deacons were ordained. There are 68 inhabitants in three monasteries.
On December 16, Metropolitan Joseph of Ivanovo-Voznesensky and Vichugsky at the annual meeting reported data on the Ivanovo-Voznesensk diocese . It has 4 monasteries (2 male and female each), 60 parishes, 116 churches (92 permanent ones), 54 prayer houses, prayer rooms and chapels. The diocese has 141 clergy (117 priests and 24 deacons), of which 74 clergy (63 priests and 11 deacons) are white clergy and 67 are monastics (54 priests and 13 deacons). 31 clergy serve in monasteries, in convents - 153 nuns (103 nuns, 32 nuns, 18 novices and laborers). During the year 1 priest and 3 deacons were ordained.
On December 29, 2014, data on the Tatarstan Metropolis was published . It has 467 parishes, with 10 parishes open during the year. The clergy of the metropolia are 2 bishops, 336 priests and 71 deacons. 17 priests and 14 deacons were ordained in 2014.
On December 6, 2014, under the chairmanship of Patriarch Kirill, an annual meeting was held in the Kaliningrad diocese . According to the patriarch, there are 168 churches in the diocese (of which 48 are under construction) and 38 chapels, there are 70 parishes and 3 monasteries (all for women).
On December 24, 2014, a diocesan meeting of the Kamenka diocese was held . The report of the Bishop of Kamensky and Alapaevsky Methodius states that the diocese has 207 parishes and 5 monasteries (2 male and 3 female), regular services are held in 138 churches, 38 house churches and prayer houses. There are 11 chapels. They serve 146 clerics.
On December 23, at a diocesan meeting of the Penza diocese , Metropolitan Seraphim of Penza and Nizhnelomovskiy announced that there were 134 parishes, two male and female monasteries, and one male monastery in the diocese. 137 clergy serve in the churches of the diocese - 122 priests and 15 deacons. 3 more clergy are out of state.
On December 26, 2014, Metropolitan Longin of Saratov and Volsk spoke about the situation in the Saratov diocese . There are 151 parishes here (145 registered, 2 unregistered hospital and 4 unregistered prison parishes; in total there are 8 hospital parishes, 4 prison parishes and 4 military parishes). In addition, there are 5 monasteries (2 male and 3 female) and 16 chapels in the diocese. 197 clerics serve in the diocese - 168 priests and 29 deacons, out of the total number of clergy 22 are monastics. There are 35 nuns in women's monasteries: 21 nuns, 13 nuns and 1 novice. During the year, 7 priests and 7 deacons are ordained.
The website of the Khabarovsk diocese did not provide statistics on parishes, but said that 3 bishops, 72 priests and 8 deacons serve in the diocese.
On December 23, 2014, Bishop Pavel of Khanty-Mansiysk and Surgut announced at a diocesan meeting that there were 231 prayer rooms in the diocese, of which 5 new churches were consecrated during the year. There are 116 clerics serving in the diocese.
On December 23, 2014, during the diocesan meeting, Metropolitan of Chelyabinsk and Zlatoust Nikodim said that there are 145 parishes in the Chelyabinsk diocese located in 225 churches, chapels and prayer houses. There is one monastery in the diocese. The total number of clerics is 176 - 153 priests and 23 deacons.
