A case has been sent to the Oktyabrsky District Court of Izhevsk regarding the posting of anti-Christian statements and caricatures of Jesus Christ on the Internet.
15 January 2015, the prosecutor's office of Udmurtia announced the transfer of the criminal case to the court about online placement Internet cartoons of Jesus Christ.
Criminal the case was initiated under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting hatred) against a 23-year-old resident Izhevsk Timur Shoev, who posted on his page on the social network "an image of Jesus Christ [crucified on the cross], against whom a group of people commits acts of violence” ( admitted in January 2014 with extremist material) and anti-Christian comments on him.
Regarding the image, it is known that the court concluded that it "had a negative psychological effect on the religious feelings of believers by humiliating their dignity."
The criminal case was sent to the Oktyabrsky District Court of Izhevsk.
Unfortunately, we do not know the content of the comments and the degree of their aggressiveness, but it is reported that the picture was accompanied by an inscription with obscene language. However, we have doubts about the legitimacy of this criminal case. Recall that we oppose the criminalization of humiliation as such. Similarly, we believe that it is unlawful to criminalize insulting religious feelings, in particular through images of any degree of rudeness.
